Do any of you ever get this itching all over without a rash? Could this be a food allergy since I havent changed anything or tried anything new. It's been going on for about a year. Even my head is itchy (not a trace of dandruff) and my hair has been falling out more than usual. Sheesh...I feel like I should only eat bread and water to figure this out! Can anyone tell me when your allergies were at their worst if you were losing hair??? I've been to many doctors with no help. Thanks!
I just checked out the allergies board because I am also so fREAKING itchy all over my body. This has been going on for a couple of weeks now and I don't know what the heck is going on... strange thing is this..I am hypothyroid and post on that board and have read about people having this itchy thing related to thyroid.
You mentioned that you have hair loss so if you have other symptoms of hypothyroid such as fatigue, intolerance to cold, weight gain, brittle nails, depressoion... maybe you should check out the thyroid disorders board... if not that's okay too.
Back to the itching.. the thing with the itching is that within about a half hour after taking benadryl it goes away which leads me to believe it IS infact an allergy of some sort(not thyroid related) but of what? Right now my nose is all itchy and ugggghhhhh!
I'm going through the same thing. The first time it happened years ago. I panicked and went and had just about every test done. HIV, Chemical Imbalance, etc. All came back negative. I didn't know what was causing it. Every Spring and Fall i have a runny nose, running eyes and i'm itchy all over. This year, it started after i went hiking one day. I rubbed my neck so hard that i ripped the skin. Now i have dark scars that are embarrassing. I don't have health insurance anymore so i can't go and take every test there is. I've just been taking over the counter medications. I've also tried to stay inside. Has anyone found a cure. My neck looks awful. So do the inside of my arms. What causes this?
I have the same problem with itching all over when I eat certain foods. It's horrible because it feels like you have bugs crawling all over you and in your hair too. I've noticed that when I stick to the Atkins diet I don't get this because I'm not eating whatever is in the foods that cause it.
Oh my Gosh! Help me please! I have the same itchyness ALL OVER (especially bad at night) and the loss of hair (more than normal anyways). I thought the hair loss was because I just had a baby 3-1/2 months ago and lost about a total of 3 hairs for the last few months anyways, so I thought this was just catch up time. Anyways, looks like there hasn't been any postings for a while on this topic......did anyone find any answers? If I don't get some sleep I am going to go crazy!!!!! I know it is not dry skin for sure, and I really haven't changed anything about my diet or anything else.
I may be new, but Itchy all over body to the point where the skin stops hair growth sounds like something you all want to see a dermatologist about. No really. Even if it is an allergy, a dermatologist might know of it as well as an allergy specialist if its effecting your skin so much.
I know someone with similar symptoms, where she itched on her head, neck, and arms after eating certain things. After trying different foods and seeing an allergist, it was determined that "natural flavors" added to foods and agricultural pesticides were causing it. Natural flavors sometimes contain MSG (which causes her to have chest tightness). So now she must eat organic foods, which don't have pesticies, and she needs to read all ingredients to make sure it doesn't have natural flavors or MSG. She's also gluten-sensitive, so she much make sure foods don't have any additives that may contain gluten (surprisingly, there are many additives that contain gluten!)
Hi All....I haven't gone to check the thread on dermatographism to see if any of you are posting there, but, if not, that could be what your itching is all about. I have it. I was diagnosed about 6 mos. ago. My doctor described it as "leaky histamines". Your body sends them out unnecessarily causing the itching, you scratch and the area you scratched gets red and swells up like hives. I'm taking hydroxizine and it's working really well but I still get bouts of it from time to time. I was tested for allergies and none were found. I do believe there must be an allergy to something but it's difficult to figure out. I know exactly how this feels! In my case it is in my family. My aunt has it too.
