CT scan results - Allergies Message Board

Hi,
My Dr.'s nurse called me with the results of my sinus CT scan today and she just said that I had Mild chronic sinusitis and a bone spur. My worst symptom right now is constant severe headaches in my forehead and top of my head. I wouldn't think that MILD sinusitis would cause such horrible headaches. What do you guys think?

Well, are you going to see the ENT to go over what you should do about it? I think maybe talk to your doctor first about what to so and then let us know what he says.

Chronic sinusitis is any form is a pain! No one who has never had it can understand just how painful it is. Been there! I hope there is hope as to how to deal w/this for you.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I haven't seen an ENT, yet. My GP wants me to finish this round of antibiotics(Tequin) and if this doesn't work(which I doubt it will-this is my 4th round) he will refer me to an ENT.
What's weird is I never feel like I have any nasal congestion, but his nurse said the CT showed a lot of nasal congestion. I never have any discharge from my nose at all, but I do have pnd down my throat. I've been taking Mucinex for about 4 days now, but it doesn't seem to be working. I just wish this horrible pressure would lighten up some.

The stuff coming out of the back of your throat is post nasal drip. Are you taking any antihistimines? When I take Zyrtec I always have more stuff come down my throat rather than nose. However, when you have a congestanted blocked sinus passage nothing will come out of your nose. I had chronic sinusitis and nothing was coming out of my nose. When your blocked nothing will come out. You really should see a ENT and try some steroids to help unblock your sinus passage. They usually work, didn't for me this last time, but talk to your doc about trying some.

Chronic sinusitis is nothing to fool with. To help prevent future sinus infections or sinusitis you should irrigate and clean out your sinus's. It has done wonders for me.

I just got my CT scan results back last week and I was diagnosed with chronic ethmoid sinusitis. I am not convinced however, that I need to take antibiotics and steroids.

I have no congestion but A LOT of post nasal drip. You may want to see an allergist and get tested for allergies. I have allergic rhinitis and I have been doing tons of reading and research and found that allergic rhinitis is a main cause of chronic sinusitis. If you can treat the allergies properly, you can control the sinusitis. However, depnding on the severity of your sinusitis, you may need treatment from an ENT.

In my case, I was told I have a little thickening on my left ethmoid sinus but other than that everything looks fine. I am making an appointment to get tested for allergies and start up immunizations again.

Also, you may want to increase your Vitamin C intake to at least 5000 mg a day. I am starting to take 10,000 mg daily as my body has been handling up to 7000 mg. (sometimes you can get diahhrea or stomach aches from too much Vitamin C) but my body has tolerated high doses just fine. I have more energy and feel 50% better since I have been taking mega doses of vitamin C.
