steroid side affects - Allergies Message Board

Went to the doctot yesterday for allergies. Got hooked on Afrin last month which I got a stern "talking to" about NOT using. Anyway he gave me 2 steroid shots to clear me out faster he says. Ok I'm fine with that but was not informed of any possible side affects. Fell asleep about 10:30 last night and woke up about 2 hours later and haven't been back to sleep yet. Also my face is beet red and i feel like I'm on fire. very hot!! help if anyone knows anything about this.

I had bad side effects from prednisone. I could not sleep at night or day and also had the flushing. My moods was terrible and I ended up in a stress center while they took me off the prednisone. I was having surges of the adrenal gland. This was a living nightmare. I was on 80 mg's which is a very high dose. Now I am on the eye drops and just put in a post to see if the steriods can get into the blood system. I never want to go through what I went through. My heart rate also went up to 200 beats a minute because off this and ended up callinng an ambulance. I do believe the shots are time released. I wish you luck and if you think these problems are from the shot I would call the Dr. that gave the shot to you.

I have never taken the shots but I have done the oral medications of prednisone, moderate & high doses. When I did the high dose(60mg a day) I had major face flushing which is weird cuz I NEVER turn red, not when i'm burned, when i'm nervous, sick, nothing. Also it does make your heart beat crazy high numbers..I've spent so many sleepless nites from prednisone. It can also cause an upset stomach/acid reflux. These side effects are normal parts of a terrible drug/miracle drug... don't worry about it.

Thanks for the info..I also had heartburn yesterday which I rarely get so all this MUST be from the shot. Now am on a decongestant and didn't sleep well last night either. Feel like a zombie today!! My heart did not beat fast that's about the only side effect I haven't had. How long will this junk stay in my system?? The thing that really sucks is I agreed to the shot cause he said it would clear me up fast.....still stuffed up!!!!

Steroids have lots of nasty side-effect

weight gain
rashes
tendinopathy
joint pain

yadda yadda...

I would stay away from them unless absolutely necessary.
