I am not sure what to do with my allergies anymore. It is so miserable I cannot have my doors or windows open in my house or car. I cannot go outside no matter how nice it is or I am not able to breath. I have forgotton what my own voice sounds like I have been horse for so long. I have taken prescription medicine over the counter medicine nothing works. Does anyone have any little miracle solution they've found when they were at wits end? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!! Melody

I feel your pain. Nothing used to work for me either. I'm on allergy shots now... works great!!! Get an appointment with an allergist and give them a go!

If you have not tried allergy shots, you would be wise to do so. A lot of folks get a great deal of benefit from them.

That said, I am severely allergic and have only gotten slight benefit from years of allergy shots. Because I am allergic asthmatic, I qualified to take the new anti=IgE medication, Xolair. It is only approved for allergic asthma and most patients do not get approval for it unless they have already tried allergy shots and are more/less steroid dependent. Xolair is in clinical trials for other allergic responses and in another year or two should be more widely available.

Xolair is changing my life. Two weeks ago, I went to my college reunion on a pollen-filled campus and had no symptoms. I have been infection free for over 4 months, probably a record for me. I have dropped my steroid use considerably and no longer need half of my allergy medications just to stay out of the hospital.

Hope you are feeling better soon. I know what it's like.

I certainly can understand what you are going through, have had hoareness and voice changing back and forth for a month, I am dripping and than my nose feels so dry, than dripping. I cannot take antihisthamines or decongestants, the side effects are really bad for me.
Am using saline spray, the pollen count is high in Pa. and lots of mold from the wet winter.

How long have you had the hoarseness? I hate to answer the phone never know what I will sound like.

I had allergy testing done, had shots for five years, no help at all. I quit for three years went back got retested and had all the previous allergies plus more, took the shots every week for 3 years and it did nothing for me. seems some people get relief others do not. Wish I knew what to do, I would gladly share it with you.
Tried so many allergy meds and tjhey either do not help or I am a nervous wreck on them.

I am 16 and last year, I got an allergy test and discovered that I was allergic to everything (not foods) on the chart except birch tree! I am now on a 5 year allergy shot plan. For the past year, I have just driven to the allergy clinc (or doctor's office, wherever you choose) and gotten a quick shot once a week. They don't hurt much, unless you are like me and are getting a huge dosage of stuff, and they don't even really hurt much then. I would recommend this to anyone. My brother gets them too, he's 13 and only allergic to our 2 cats!
