One year checkup with Allergist tomorrow - Allergies Message Board

Ok, been on Allergy shots a year.. working great. I have my one year checkup tomorrow. What happens at these appointments? Surely not skin testing again, right? Will it just be a normal type checkup, lungs, etc?

Well, after interviewing me on my symptoms.. and me telling him I'm on NO MEDS, just the shots, then he did a quick exam. Lung function was fine, no nasal drip, throat is good, can breathe through both sides of the nose, etc. He said, "well, this is what we like to see. Looks like we got it right the first time! As bad as you are allergic to some of these things, and you're not taking anything --that is really great! No further testing needed! We'll order your new serum right away!"

So, I guess at your yearly appt, if all is not going well, they do some retesting? Hmm.

I have always had to go for 6 month checkups if I can manage to go that long. However, I have never been allergy tested more than once every 5-10 years or so. I thinks its 10 years, but I'm not sure. I have been allergy tested multiple times, but I've had allergy shots off and on for 32 years. Each time I have to go back on I have to be retested. I'm not going off of them this time. At the check-up they just check height, weight, lung function, check ears, nose, throat and talk to you about how you've been doing. Your meds are discussed and maybe changed and explained. You get a chance to ask questions, etc. You usually get your injection before you see the doctor so he can see any reaction for himself. Its a pretty easy check-up compared to some.
