Allergy was first diagnosed 12 years ago when I had a reaction to a knee brace following surgery. Didn't have many problems since then until about 2 years ago. I bought a pair of knee-high boots. Without knowing, the lining was neoprene. I had blisters and sores all over my legs that had to be treated in the hospital for two days, in addition to having to use medicines and creams for a month to make it go away. Since that reaction, my feet and legs always react to the inner linings of most shoes (with the exception of sneakers and all leather lined shoes. Both my doctor and dermatologist conducted patch tests using chemicals found in neoprene. I was found to be topically allergic to all of them. lol Most shoes (dress shoes, dress boots, etc.) are lined with man-made materials now. When the tag says "man-made" or "synthetic" materials...it more than likely means neoprene. I can't afford a wardrob of all leather shoes, and I'm too young (27) to be destined for a life of Keds. I have tried to put medicine on my feet and wrap them in saran wrap before putting boots on, but it doesn't work. Anyone have any suggestions?
