~Update on allergies for my boys!~ - Allergies Message Board

The boys both got poked with 20 needle things, that had different types of allergins in it-they did great, no crying or anything!!

Erik is allergic to Grass(I guess the mold in the grass?) Go figure, lol~Also to mold.So he is on a nose spray, and another med...They told us to keep him out of barns, etc...
Alex has an allergy to peanuts and soy He doesn't *swell* up and stuff when he eats peanuts, but it causes his exzema to be bad! The doctor says this can more than likely turn into the type where if he eats nuts, his airways will swell etc...so we have to watch out, and really cut back. He eats a hella lot of peanut butter, and nuts, so that is why his exzema is as bad as it is!! So we have to cut out the peanuts....He gave us another topical cream & They did a blood test on him also, and Erik got a flu shot finally!

Funny story, so funny....They told Erik (8) to get ready for his flu shot, and he freaked out on us-he hates needles. We told him if he got the shot and didnt cry, we would take him to KFC and he could eat BBQ wings, but everyone else got chicken. Well needless to say, he screamed and Tony (DH) had to hold him down-So the BBQ wings were history, lmao~

Then we told Alex (5) the same thing, if he didnt cry when he got blood drawn, he would get BBQ wings....so the nurse comes in and he pulls his sleeve up, and Tony & I are behind his back, whispering-I said "He will cry, you know it!" and Tony said "No he won't, watch!" so the nurses were giggling at us for saying that....So she puts the needle in Alex's arm, and he got this serious look like OMG on his face and he started to laugh and said "That tickles!!! Quit! It tickles!" So we all started to bust out laughing, the nurses said that was the first time they have ever heard that one You could so tell he was in pain, but he played it off so well....needless to say, he got BBQ wings, lmao

I also wanted to add (sorry!)

I am supposed to switch to deodorant free soap, like Dove, and also detergent. He said that Alex (The son with severe eczema) isn't allergic to the soap/deodprant, but it can make his rashes worsen....Also he says a warm soak in the tub will moiturize his skin (or soften it kwim?)

He said to also get Clairitin (sp) over the counter....

Hopefully your boys are well on their way to feeling better. For the most part, it sounds like they were very brave. The one who is allergic to grass is actually allergic to grass pollen. Grass season is usually in the summer. He should probably take some claritin during the season to keep him well.
