Red face hacking allergy cough throat tickle cure?

It happens during allergy season, at the most inopportune moments.... (during a lecture, on the subway, in the middle of the night...) the infamous throat tickle that makes you cough and cough and cough, and no matter how much water you drink, or how many cough drops you pop! It just won't go away!

How the hell do you cure this thing?

Water and cough drops just don't help do they? Oddly enough though, I've found that a few swallows of cola quiets mine right down.

Mine too! I like to use Sprite at night; anything with caffeine in it will give me reflux.

Ack! I just quit drinking cola! But I'm sure seltzer or ginger ale might work just as well. Thanx! I'll give that a try :-)
