I will be fine all day long but in the evening I will break out in a sweat and have a rapid heartbeat and air hunger. It feels like anxiety but I'm not doing anything but watching TV. I take allergy shots but they have reduced the dosage because I got off schedule. It's happened to me before and it seems like it occurs more often in the fall/winter days. Once it hits I have a hard time getting to sleep. Any advice?
Are you always sitting on the couch when it starts up? You might be reacting to something on your couch like the chemicals in the dyes used for the fabric; or maybe you have a throw on the couch that you're reacting to.
The reason I say that is because there's a chemical smell in my couch because it had been sprayed and whenever I lay down on it, my heart starts to pound and my ears ache. Finally I covered it real well and it doesn't happen. The bad news is that I had to buy a new couch.

Would you mind describing "air hunger"?
You might want to do some research on "circadian rhythm". During the evening, your endocrine system starts pumping out additional hormones (chemicals) into the blood stream. For instance, the Pineal gland starts pumping out additional Melatonin at night.
These extra hormones can effect your heart beat, and the efficiency of your heart. Allergic reactions to allergens, seasonal or otherwise, also causes the endocrine system to pump additional hormones into the blood stream.
You sound a lot like me about a year ago. I would be minding my own business, and suddenly my chest would feel tight, and I couldn't get a deep breath no matter what. My jerk primary doctor insisted it was anxiety, but I knew it wasn't, and he started treating me badly and refusing to make appointments after I refused the anti-anxiety drugs. But that's another story. Anyway, my allergist did a bunch of tests to make sure I wasn't developing asthma, and when all those were negative, ordered a CT of my sinuses. It turned out I had bad sinuses that required surgery, and a condition called sino-bronchial syndrome. Basically, I had a "stealth" sinus infection that wasn't causing other symptoms, but was draining into my chest. The reason the symptoms come and go, is because sometimes I was so congested it couldn't drain, and at other times it was able to drain easily. It was worse near the end of the day, and my allergist said that was probably because my zyrtec was wearing off at the same time.
If you have an allergist or ENT tell him your symptoms. If you don't, ask for a referral.
Have you ever been diagnosed with Anxiety? I do know that once you have had an anxiety attack, it can hit you at anytime weather you feel stressed or not. I have had that happen to me. Not Fun!

I have similar problems. My problems are caused, in part, by consuming carbohydrates after about 6pm at night. If I would snack on potato chips or eat a sandwich after about 6pm, I get the rapid heartbeat, sweating, high blood pressure and shortness of breath.
You might not have the same problem. Do you snack at night? If so, cut it out for ONE night and see what happens.

Are you getting enough exercise? I get something similar when I've been particularly slovenly.
I hope you won't miscontrue my question as suggesting you're lazy or anything!!
