I'm not sure how to tell if I am allergic to a certain food or not. I know that hives is a common symptom, but, I am hoping that someone knows of other symptoms like can a food allergy cause the tongue to get sore in a certain spot and then go away after a time? I seem to get that often. Thanks All!
Unfortunately different folks can have different symptoms when having an allergic reaction to a food. Milder symptoms can include nasal stuffiness, post nasal drip, mild rashes, stomach upset. On the other end of the continuum - breathing difficulty and anaphylactic shock. Tongue getting sore...that's a new one on me.
I was just thinking that since I get one tastebud at a time that seems to feel sore/irritated, that it may be something that didn't agree with me. I wonder if that can be a digestive thing then....hmmm......
with my food allergies - Milk and Wheat (hence the name)
I get a stuffy and runny nose (at the same time), bloated stomach, itchy eyes and nose as well as sneezing all the time. When I I have anything with milk or wheat in it. So yes, pretty much non stop I have the stuffy/runny nose... Since I've found out what is causing all these things to happen to me I'm eatting less of both and the itchy eyes and nose as well as sneezing has been really at an all time low.
My ENT also does allergyies that's how I got tested and found all this out...
Good luck to you!

strangely enough, I have food allergies and other related issues and have had sores in my mouth and on my tongue like you described, but my doctors keep saying there's no proven connection to my allergies. Maybe it's more of an indirect effect, who knows.
