Hi leelee, I assume you are using a pump bottle so the info below is more for that.
-Blow your nose gently to clear any mucus before using the medication.
-If you are using it the first time, you have to prime the bottle.
-Tilt your head forward slightly and breathe out slowly.
-Then hold the bottle with your thumb at the bottom and index & the middle on the top. Use a finger on the other hand to close the nostril not getting the medication.
-Squeeze the pump as you breathe in slowly through your nose(do not breathe in quickly or with great force as this might cause the medication to go down your throat).
-Then repeat steps if needed. You might have read the info above from the paper that came along with the medication.
Other things to take note:
=Aim your bottle straight by pointing the nozzle of the nasal spray container towards the back of your head. You will waste your medication if you don't.
=Use it regularly as prescribed, don't stop even if you are feeling better.
Sometimes, people will use a decongestant to open up the nasal passages few minutes before taking their steroid spray so that the medication can get up further into the nose(that's if you have blocked nose due to swollen turbinates).
=If you need more than one spray in each nose. Wait for abt 2-5 mins before you take the second spray so that the medication from the first spray can be absorded first.
