Bad news from the ENT

First of all my sinuses are so inflamed that he couldn't see my nose structure in the CAT scan... so now I have to get a sinus X. Second he said that I'm raw inside and extremely inflamed and that if this treatment doesn't work I MUST definitely need a sinus operation to get rid of the inflamed tissue. I want to cry… I never had an operation in my life

Don't worry, i have had 2 in the last year and it isn't that bad. IN fact if you do ahve the surgery after a couple of months you will feel so good! Hopefully it can be treated with anitbiotics and other means, but if not don't let it get you down. Need an support and we are here!

Re: Bad news from the ENT

Don't worry, you are going to be fine.

I didn't have sinus problems EVER until age 33. I caught a cold, that turned into my first sinus infection. Then my sinus just blew up. I went through 2 rounds of antibiotics before a specialist said "your deviated septum is causing blockage, and it needs to be fixed. But before that, we can try another round of antibiotics and Prednisone," to which I replied "if it needs to be fixed, let's do it!" -best decision I ever made.

When we are young, are bodies can fight stuff off better. As we get older, nonsense like this starts happening.

The CT Scan will show if surgery is necessary.

Just like Halls says, surgery is nothing. I had virtually NO pain afterwards, just a little discomfort, and I looked like crap for a couple days. Some doctors can even do it on an outpatient basis. Honest, for me it was like getting a tooth pulled, and I had a pretty major sinus surgery. The only tough part was sleeping the first night after surgery, because I couldn't breathe through my nose.

let us know how it goes.
