I thought it was going away but now its back

hi everyone. I'm not very happy right now. My dizziness is getting really bad again. I wish this would just stop. I am moving at the end of this month, but I'm really nervous about the drive there and what if I don't feel any better or what if I feel worse when I get to Florida? Right now I live in Illinois I am so dizzy all the time, I didnt start feeling this way untill I moved to this house a year ago. I used to live in Florida and I was fine there. My ears are so itchy and scaley its driving me crazy. I'm not sneezing, I dont have watery eyes, Nothing like that, Just really bad dizziness and my ears are driving me nuts with the itchiness I hate this, The brain fog is starting to come back after it was gone all fall and winter. Yesterday somebody asked me how old I was and I couldn't remember! I felt so stupid and embarrassed. It finally came to me but it took a little while. I laughed it off as a joke but inside I was not laughing. Oh and I don't know if I told you guys there is black mold in my basement which I think is making me sick in the first place but I'm not totally sure, My washer and dryer is in the basement, I was doing laundry last night and my fiancee came down stairs to look around and he found brown slimy things growing out of the cement floor. I don't think this house is safe to live in. I have no idea what is growing out of my floor. I cant wait to get out of here. I made a doctor appointment for Monday to see if maybe I can get more flonase, that did seem to work a little. Well hope everyone else is feeling better. Oh and I forgot, the doctor did say there is fluid in my ears.
Lisa

Re: I thought it was going away but now its back

Hi Lisa,
Sorry you are feeling bad. I'm kinda new to this board, but have gotten lots of information from it. I didn't realize so many people had alot of the same symptoms I had. Kinda makes me feel a little better, knowing i'm not losing my mind, but then, I can't understand why so many Drs can't help us. It could very well be an allergy to the mold in your basement. I've realized from this board that an allergy can affect the inner ear. Thats alot of my problems.......(i think anyway) WHat are your symptoms?? Ive been feeling a little dizzy, lightheaded, feel like i'm in a fog........kinda hard to explain.......and sometimes I can't think, make sense?? My family Dr. said I had fluid on my ear, and gave me antibiotics, they helped some, but then it all came back. Went there again about 3 more times, and she said the fluid was gone, tried me on steroids for about a week....and again, it didn't help much.......so I decided to go to an ENT, suppose to be the best around here, well, he said I may have TMJ..........I just don't get it. I have been like this since October, and it seems to last for at least a month or two, and then it'll ease up for about 2 weeks, and then it comes right back. I don't ever want to get out or do anything cause I'm scared it'll get worse and I"ll panic. Well enough about me, have you been to the Dr. about this?? Have you ever been tested for allergies??
Hopefully its just an allergy to the mold, and when you get moved back to Florida, everything will get back to normal. I hope so anyway. I use to live in Illinois. Hope you start feeling better soon. Deena

Hi Lisa..
Hockey mama is sooo right, if you can remove yourself from the house and notice any improvement within 4-5 days, you know that mold is definetly your cause. However, I do feel it probably is. A slimy mold is a possible stachybotris and you really need to mention this to your doctor. I think I mentioned in another post to you about asking your doctor for an antifungal drop or spray for your ears. The fluid can definetly cause dizziness. Are you able to take decongestants? If not there are herbal or homeopathy alternatives for ppl that can't take traditional ones like sudafed etc. Like I said ....you have to tell your doctor about the slimy mold and the name Stachy. He should know what kind of mold that is. Does you fiance have any symptoms? If not he should take a piece of scotch tape and stick it to the mold and pull it off and place it in a sealed container and have it tested. Keep me posted! Lesley

Re: I thought it was going away but now its back

Hi,
Stiill feeling awful. Deena I have been to the docters plenty of times and they just look at me like I'm nuts. My syptoms are, Dizzy, fluctuate in severity, headaches, eye pain, post nasel drip, extremly itchy ears, ears pop and click, sometimes my head feels like it could explode. in the morning I am stuffy. I have been tested for allergys by blood and nothing came up.
hockeymama I want to stay at a hotel for a week but I just dont have that kind of money. Lelsey, Thank you so much for posting, I took decongestants before and they made me feel better, then I tried taking it again and I felt even dizzier. Fuuny you should ask if my fiancee has any syptoms. He gets dizzy to. Sometimes not as bad as me but sometimes he said he gets really dizzy and disoriented. I was getting better I thought, The dizziness was there but I could tolorate it. Now its really bad again. I now I have fluid in my ears I can hear it when I touch my ears. I tried holding my nose and blowing to pop them and it felt like they wanted to pop but couldnt. they just got a full feeling and I swallowed and it went away. I dont know if this is relevent or not but I also devoloped IBS while living here.
Wel thanks for listining
Lisa
