I hope someone can help me with this. It rarely happens, but I ate something last night again that made me awfully sick.

My food allergies are nuts, peas, soy, beans, and sesame seeds. I avoid all, and the nuts and sesame are the worst offenders. I can have soy in small concentrations, since it’s in most processed foods. A few years ago I ate a bakery roll that I thought was just wheat, well it had sesame seeds IN it and I was so sick for 13 hours.

I’m on a low carb diet so last night hubby and I tried Arby’s (fast food) low carb wraps. My stomach started protesting shortly after I finished the whole thing off, and my hubby says he felt funny too although it didn’t last nearly as long nor got as bad as mine. I’m pretty sure it was the whole wheat wrap that did it, as I have had all the other ingredients before. It felt like I had a brick in my stomach, it was so painful and uncomfortable. It didn’t last quite as long as the sesame seed one but it was still awful. I got nauseous but not to the point of throwing up. I can feel it moving down as it’s digesting. I have eaten other non-whole-wheat wraps before without a problem.

If I ask an allergist to test me for allergies just for whole wheat, will they do it?? I’ve eaten other wheat things before w/o a problem although a few times I’ve felt a bit funny afterwards. My allergies were tested over 15 years ago, and I would have known if wheat came up at that time. I did have a “food intolerance” test last year, and wheat came up, but I thought it was a “quack” test (the way the test was conducted was very strange). So I suppose it’s possible I have a wheat intolerance and not an allergy. How would I tell the difference?

So what are you supposed to do if this happens? Are you supposed to throw up right away to get it out of your system, or is it too late by that time? I’m actually afraid of throwing up and avoid it at all costs. Would I feel better if I throw up? Or do you just have to wait it out until it digests all the way? I took some Tums which maybe helped, but only a tiny bit.

What would an Epipen do in this situation if it is an allergy, would it relieve the pain?
