of someone becoming allergic to medications after being on them for several years? My doctor says yes, the pharmacist says very doubtful. - sam

Sam I Had The Same Problem With Sulfa Based Antibiotics, Took The In Past Years With No Prob And One Day Broke Out With Hives With Swelling, So Yes Its Possible.i Did Find Out Later What You Consume Prior To Taking A Med Can Cause A Adverse Reaction Food,drinks Ect. All Depends?

Thanks Hyper One. But I have been taking these on a daily basis some for twenty years. I think you are saying you take the antibotic only when you need it. Correct? - sam

Yes Only When I Need It, Not Unless Your Building Some Sort Of Tolarance To Your Med.prolonged use of meds builds toxity in the liver detoxification process,which in turn can cause certian reactions not saying thats your case,not sure what type of reaction your having.is ther a alt. med to replace current prescription your taking?

I broke out in hives and was taken off four meds. They were to be introduced back slowly. I started the med 1 and went about ten days. No hives or rash. I introduced the med 2 and after five days I broke out again. But this time it was just the rash. But I was sure it was med 2 so I stopped it.

I went to the doctor and he agreed with stopping med 2, but put me on a new med 1, but in the was in the same class. After three days I began itching, but no rash. I took myself off of the new first med and the itching has not gone away totally, but it is 95% better. I hope you can understand what I have written. I sure can't. - sam
