I HATE MARYLAND; Anyone ever moved? - Allergies Message Board

The air quality is horrendus here. We are the the orange zone; ragweed is so high too. I know this is killing me and my allergies. I'm already on the standard treatment. I'm really stuffy with PND; i hate to think of going outdoors. Can anyone relate? ANyone ever moved?

With a husband in the military, I can tell you moving doesn't help any. At first, you feel better, but then you develop new allergies to all the pollens unique to the new place. I'm going through this right now, and finally the ENT has agreed to retest me, to see if any new allergies have popped up. By the time hubby's career is over, I will be allergic to the whole US!

One of the allergists I consulted with said that he tells patients to find a place they really want to live, and stay there. Then get shots and treatment for the allergies of that region.

I second Sneezy's reply. If you are allergy prone (have malfunctioning immune system), you'll develop allergies to new things in new places. Now some might be better for the allergies you currently have and may have fewer known allergens but that doesn't guarantee anything. But you could list your allergies and try to find a place that doesn't grow those things...then after you move there it would tke a while before the new allergies show up. But they probably will...and ragweed is everywhere!
And so are dust mites and grass...and these are the most common allergies...
