In 2 weeks I am scheduled for surgery. I am getting my Deviated Septum fixed (where she said she is going to take out the part that is crooked), I am getting my Lower Turbinates shrunken, and I am getting a Bone Removed around my sinus area cause i have alot of tissue in my right sinus. I am really scared because i have never had surgery before. I do suffer all the time however. It seems like everyday I get stuff at one point or another. The worse is when I try to sleep. Has any1 had any or all of these done at the same time? I would love to hear your story, and if it has helped. I am really in need right of some good advice and comforting. I appreciate any advice or stories or anything you can give me. I am also worried about spending alot of $$ on this, and what if it doesnt work, or something goes wrong? How long is recovery, what should i expect from this. Please help me, I am in desperate need...Thanks
I didn't have all those procedures done, but I had a turbinate reduction and some gunk cleaned out of my sinuses and it went very well. Even with the packing, I could tell I could breathe easier, and the pain wasn't bad at all. I was prescribed just tylenol 3 and only took it for 2 days. It was less than a week until I felt completely recovered back to my old routine. Honestly, getting the sinus surgery was the best thing I ever did. I wish I had done it sooner.
I had a deviated septum repaired decades ago when they did the surgery entirely differently from how they do it now. I had very little nasal passage left on one side due to several broken noses. The surgery was great and I could breathe out of both sides very easily for the first time in years. I've had stuffiness since then with sinus infections but overall it was the best thing to do. My sister had her turbinates removed and she's pleased that she did. Hope this helps.
Well, I'll reply but I know nothing about surgery. Is this surgery for allergies? -
I just can't imagine that surgury is a viable treatment for allergies. Since this is the allergy forum, that is probably why so few have replied.
He's talking about sinus surgery. Allergies often cause sinus problems. A few of us on the board have had sinus surgery. While it doesn't help the allergies, it brings tremendous sinus symptom relief.
I think this time of year is slow for the boards, since many people get relief from their allergy symptoms when the frost comes.

I haven
t had the surgery, but I need it. My left side nose bone is curved and I am sick of getting problems breathing and all the pain when I have sinus and colds.I sleep on my right side and lift my cheek with my right hand so I can get enough air to go to sleep. I am also sick of the really bad pain I get when I have a cold or sinus problems. So after reading your message now knowing that I am not alone, I will call tomorrow my Doc. and make an appointment. Why keep on suffering and not getting a good night sleep and keep taking all these pain relievers. I may have a big bruise for a week, but that's only a week and my suffering will be over.
good luck,
Tina
