Anybody have a similar issue? (Pediatrician has never seen it or the Allergy/Asthma specialist, NOR does the Rheumatologist think it's auto-immune related.)

First time the reaction happened, the three year old was outside, came running to me holding his cheek. I took him inside and he is turning bright red for head to foot. I give him Benadryl and by the time I get to the ER (2 min down the road) he is back to normal. A couple of hours later he has a swollen cheek (just one). You think insect bite in the mouth.

BUT, this has been happening for the past year, once a month or so. Only now, he doesn't get as red and he always swells on the cheek. These reactions are happening at midnight or 3 a.m. We've restricted his diet based on allergy tests, but still nothing has been confirmed as a cause or ruled out for that matter. The first time it happened was wake hours, outside. Now it is always overnight. Any ideas how a reaction would cause a cheek to swell??
