Sores in mouth/food allergy?

Hello,
I noticed today that my inner cheeks and inner lips develpoed into red raised bumps. Has anybody ever had this? I have never had an allergic reaction to anyhting. It does not hurt or bleed/pus, but it is very red an bumpy. It is all over the mouth. Yesterday, I did eat some Japanese food which had some interesting things in it, pickled stuff? My guess is an allergic reaction to something.
Any thought would be helpful.
Thanks!
A

Re: Sores in mouth/food allergy?

I will get hives on the inside of my mouth after eating something I'm mildly allergic to. Sometimes my throat and roof of mouth gets itchy too - sometimes not. I'll get two or three hives on the inside of my cheeks, and those go back down after a few hours. You have to be careful of these allergies, as if they involve your throat, you don't want that swelling up, and then not be able to breathe. As a precaution, I don't eat ANY of the foods that have ever given me hives in my mouth. Some of my problem foods are pineapple, coconut, walnuts, bean and alfalfa sprouts, water chestnuts, bananas, carrots, celery, raw potatoes and avocados. Since you went to a Chinese restaurant, they generally use water chestnuts and bean sprouts in their cooking, so its possible one of these foods could be the culprit. If you eat something before you realized you're allergic, a good idea is to swish lots of water inside your mouth and swallow it. Do this three or four times. It helps me develop fewer (if any) hives when I do this.

Thanks Randi for the advice.

I now remember I tried some KimChee(sp?) for the first time in my life. I know its some sort of spiced pickled cabbage, that may be the food that caused this.
Thanks Randi for the advice

I got the exact same thing that you've got about a week ago. It was from eating a 1/2 pound of cashews. lol...I was "slightly" cheating from my diet.
