Sleepy I thnk from allergies, Zyrtec safe? - Allergies Message Board

I have been wickedly tired the past few weeks and nothing wrong after a physical and blood test. One Dr says it's probably allergies and the other shrugged his shoulders. LOL

I was thinking of taking Zyrtek. I had alot of nervousness with alegra and don't want to go thre again. I was wondering if zyrtec is sedating (5 mg) or speedy. I figured if the allergies are making me this tired then maybe I'll feel normal with the zyrtec, but again I have become sensetive to alot of meds since this mess started.

Zyrtec makes me extremely tired. I don't know if this is a normal side effect or just how I react to it. I want to say that one of the side effects is sleepiness. The last time I took it, my hubby thought I was on something. I was so out of it!

It does make some sleepy in the beginning so they suggest you take it at bedtime. Be sure it's the regular Zyrtec, not Zyrtec-D. The D is a decongestant and is an upper.

I take the Zyrtec D and it keeps me awake. I take it twice a day and I have to take the second does in the afternoons because if I take it to late in the day it keeps me awake. It does work for me really good. I have taken it for over a year now with no side effects.

Why don't you take the regular Zyrtec with out the -D so it won't keep you up?
