Cheek and mouth tingling, Hayfever & ETD - Allergies Message Board

Hi everyone,
I recently was tested and am positive for ragweed, sagebrish, and oak, cats too. I am in Colorado, and I guess we are a hot spot for ragweed this year. The allergy has caused ear tube dysfunction (ETD) and my right ear feels wet sometimes. I still get this weird pressure feeling in my right cheek (the side of my ear tube thing)...sometimes my mouth (lips) feels like there is Camphophenique on it??? Not numb, just weird....my gums get cold as well. I still have post nasal drip I am aware of...but the lip and gum thing drives me nuts...my MRI was normal as was my sinus CT. But the doc told me my ear drum doesn't move thus the dysfunction thing. The lip thing comes and goes, sometimes it may go away for a few days and then it returns...it's like having Ambesol or an antiseptic on my lips, it just happens any old time. Can ANYONE relate??? I am taking Claritin, nothing else seems to take the edge off.

Keep taking the Claritin. It does sound allergy-related, I would mention this to the doctor when you see him/her again. I'd check for food allergies, too- sometimes this can cause these symptoms. I had a similar reaction when I ate at a certain Chinese restaurant when I was stationed in Germany- turned out I was sensitive to a food coloring in the sweet and sour.

Try not to freak out too much, I know it is terribly disconcerting, but if you can figure out what causes it and avoid that element, it should pass.

It could be a food causing an allergic cross reaction that is causing the lip and cheek tingling. Ragweed allergies can cause cross reactions with melons, especially during the actual ragweed season.
