Help - I don't know whats wrong with me - Allergies Message Board

I think i have allergies. for the past 3 months when i go to bed and throughout the night i cant breath because my nose is stuffed up. it is really starting to bug me. i told my parents but they refuse to take me to an allergiest. is there any otc cheap meds that have a quick fix for this?

Try some benedryl at bedtime. Sounds like it might be dust mites and those are in your bedding. You can get generic benedryl very cheaply at WalMart and such places.

its not that, its just that when i lie down, no matter where, it seems that my nose gets clogged, and when i stand up it unclogs. i am diabetic, so i dont know if benedryl has sugar or not...

No, it doesn't have sugar..not the tablets, anyway. Try it at bedtime, if it works, then you know you need an antihistamine. It will most likely make you drowsy so I would suggest trying Claritin (which is also OTC) for daytime - if the benedryl seems to work for you.

Trying the benedryl and seeing if it helps is a great idea. Also, you don't need to see the allergist first thing. Your regular doctor can determine if you have allergies, and reccomend an allergist if he/she feel syou need one. You might not even have allergies, you may have a sinus infection.
