I don't know, maybe this isn't allergy related but if someone shares my symptoms, please let me know. I have been tested and come to find out, I am allergic to almost everything outdoors. On really windy days, I try not to even go out, but when those days are here or there is a dramatic temp or change in weather, it doesn't seem to matter whether I go outdoors or not. I don't really sneeze, but my nose runs alittle bit and my sinuses are tender if I rub them just a tad and yet, I feel like I go around in a fog, kind of like I am off balance a bit. Is this all allergy related? I also feel unmotivated to do things, I just want to sleep sometimes. Can allergies do this?

Yes.. in particular Vasomotor rhinitus.. it is a sensitivity to barometric pressure and pollution/irritants that are not readily testable. Treatment.. as with allergies, nasal spray, anti-histamines, and decongestants. You may be a candidate for the out patient no ill side effects, bilaterial turboplasty surgery. This is an electrocaurterization technique of the turbonid membranes in your maxillary and frontal sinus cavities. In many allergy suffers thes membranes become so inflammed they fill our sinuses and cause pressure headaches. Turboplasty.. performed by good state of the art ENT associates, just reduces them in size. The caurterized membranes will regrow over time.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure if I understand all what you are saying, but you said there is no test for the barametric pressure/pollen allergy? I know I have pollen allergy but I didn't know anything about the barametric pressure stuff. You suppose that is why I feel like I am in a fog? My sinuses don't really hurt, but can be tender a bit at times. Hard to find a good Dr too.

Hi back at you.

.. not barametric pressure/pollen.. bara. pres./pollution.

Basically, vasomotor rhinitus is the catch all to an allergy to stuff that they currently do not test for.. like cigarette smoke, car exhaust, factory emissions such as formaldhyde and the like... pollution on a good day in Chattanooga is moderate.. but it doesn't help me over much.

Treatment? Zrytec (anti-histamine of choice), singular, steriodal nasal spray, saline nasal spray, and oil nasal drops (Ponaris - OTC but needs to be ordered in most cases). Only not available treatment.. allergy shots.

My allergist is Dr. Hollie, Chattanooga, TN. The greatest relief I have had was getting a complete sinus roto-rootering done by Dr. St. Charles, Chattanooga,TN. Both of these MD's get patients from three or more states (Al, GA, TN, and SC). They are good.

Best of luck trying to treat it.. you may end up needing to see an ENT for permanent relief. Medications just treat the symptoms.
