Constant nose itching! - Allergies Message Board

I've had allergies for awhile now, and according to skin tests, am allergic to just about everything, except for foods. I have problems year round and it was suggested by my allergist to get the shots, but unfortunately my insurance only covered the syringes, not the actual stuff that goes into the syringes. But anyway, recently I've found that my nose is constantly itching. It runs a little, but chewing gum actually helps keep that away for me. I'm a full time college student, and it is embarrassing to keep scratching, rubbing my nose to alleviate the itch. Nothing seems to help with this, and the darn itch only goes away for minutes at a time before its back. Do you guys have any suggestions on what type of medication I could take to control this? It's hard because the only thing that has worked for me recently is Alavert, and it gets pretty expensive if I have to take it everyday. Thanks for any help!

Try a nasal rinse called sinucleanse not the most comfortable thing to do but seems to help clear out the allergens and is only about $13.00

Do you also take anti-histamines? They will help with the allergy reactions and reduce the itching.

If you tested positive to many allergens, it will not be advisable to go for allergy shots because there are just to many. Unless you just want to target on the allergen that you react the strongest. Immunotherapy will be effective if there's 1 or 2 positive allergen.

But I have heard of a new treatment where the drug is administer under your tongue. No shots, syringes, needles. You just put a drop of the drug under your tongue as the immunotherapy. But you have to check with your clinic if they have this new treatment.

Prevention is also a good way to help with your symptoms. Avoid your allergens as much as possible but it can be hard especially with so many allergies.
