Block nose, PND, mucus and loosing voice??? - Allergies Message Board

I have vasomotor and allergic rhinitis, and had turbinectomy surgery done 1 year ago. Now, my symptoms are coming back. Getting nose blocks more frequent and lots of PND. My right side is worse than my left.

Now I realise a new symptom. I will loose my voice suddenly! I suspect it's the PND... mucus blocking my vocal cords or something. When my voice suddenly goes 'screechy'(changing to a funny sound...), I try clearing my throat but it didn't seem to help. I had to use a lot of force and do it many times before I clear the throat and get back my voice. Sometimes, I even have to wait for a while before trying to clear my throat again. It happens a number of times a day.

Will clearing my throat with so much force cause any damage to my vocal cords or something? I'm wondering if I should go back to the ENT clinic since it might not be anything serious.

Anyone has similar experience?

Yeah, Allergic stimulated PND can cause those symptoms. I would see your ENT and look into bilateral turboplasty at least.

Cheerangel - is your throat sore at all when you feel like your voice is going?

It didn't feel sore at all. I will be talking and suddenly my voice goes 'scratchy' and then it will be reduced to something like a 'whisper' sound.

Definitely sounds more like PND induced larengittus than GERD/LPR.. but you may have Gerd/LPR too. PND and excessive allergies aggrevate and sometimes stimulate the development of Gerd/LPR.
