Is there a way to reverse Histamine production, or slow it down once reaction?

Hi Guys

I'm a 21 year old and allergic to almost all mast produced food.

As most people with allergies will know its impossible to avoid the foods all the time.

Like, I've just moved to Australia and today had a BBQ, so it was sausages, steak, burgers and red wine etc

I'm allergic to Mainly, Nuts wheat and Dairy so BBq's are a nightmare cause theres always pizza there as well, and even though you have food allergies, you cant help but pick at the food because I know I'll get a headache and hives on my face, but i just cant help myself, I miss all the nice food.

Anyway, my question is, once you've started getting a reaction, is there a way that you can slow the histamine release down?

I get chronic hives that last weeks and have to treat them with a Cortisone cream. I', beginning to think i should be taking anti histamines, but arent they just a preventative measure? is there something that will make the hives disappear quickly?

Also i'm trying to get over picking a bad food, so going to change my diet to how my dietitian suggested, live of meat, fruit and veg, does anyone have any suggestions on websites that do recipes for things made out of fresh, additive and preservative free food?

Thanks

p.s yep brought this on myself but you should have seen the food and my friend was really upset when i hesitated coz she tried to make it allergy healthy for me and i couldn't say no

Hey there
You need to be careful. I don't want to scare you but your throat can swell also. You can always take Benadryl (anti histamine) once it starts. It is a pill form.

As far as the diet plan your working on just do research on any search engine something will pop up. Please be careful. I know it is hard because I have a son like that. Most of his are gone now but they were really bad when he was a baby and toddler. Now you will make me have to worry about you. I am trying to get my kids out of the house.

Take care.

PS Just say NO next time

Hi Jenn

Thanks , never thought about anaphlaxis before, but i just read and it is Hived in the throat that cause it.

Deffo gonna start taking benedryl, anything to get rid of the rash, i'll just tell my friend, thanks for trying but still got a Tiny rash, hopefully that will make her feel a bit better rather than thinking she made me ill. She always worries that shes making me ill with her food, but i'll just tell her not too worry.

No need to worry about me I'll get settled in soon and back onto my diet

Thanks for the advice about benedryl, Hopefully it should get rid of the symptoms quicker than the month it takes for the hives to dissapear at the min.

Zyrtec is really good for hives. In Canada it's called cetirizine and is OTC. Not sure about Australia.

Hi Guys

Just went out and bought Telfast 180mg one a day

It even says it relieves the symptoms quicker and I tell you they work

Migraine has already gone

what I've noticed about these Antihistamines is that most of the cheaper ones like benedryl (even though there not really cheap :P ) have lactose in them, makes you wonder if you took them you they make you feel better or worse :P
