I've been getting 2 allergy shots weekly (1 in each arm) for the past 10 months. Several months ago, the shots began to hurt -- a lot! Plus, one arm or the other was swelling up in the area of the shot, sometimes to as large as the size of my hand (4" x 8") for several days after. I mentioned to one of the nurses that when she
gives the shot, there is minimal pain upon injection and little swelling after. I have mentioned this a number of times and recently wondered if the nearly constant pain in my upper arms might not be a result of other nurses always injecting intramuscularly rather than sub-q. Has anyone here had this problem? I'm wondering what the long-term problems might be with constantly getting allergy shots in the muscle. I've suggested that the *good* nurse teach the others how to give shots but no one seems to be listening!
