diflucan allergy reaction how soon would i have one - Allergies Message Board

Hi there,
I've been over in urology as i thought i had a uti but doc thinks it could be a yeast infection so he gave me difulcan , if i were to have a severe reaction to it , how long after taking it could this happen ?

If you've never had the drug before, hives usually take 4-5 days. If you have had it or a similar enough drug, could be just a few hours.

Anaphylaxis can happen faster, but I would hope you would then be in an ambulance, not on the Internet.

Hi Skipa, you might have a die-off reaction and many confuse this with a drug reaction. If you have a yeast overgrowth and take an antifungal and then a large number of yeast die, they release a toxin. This is what you could be reacting to. I did this just a few months ago. I had chills so bad that I couldn't talk. Another time I had hives all over my trunk and had diarrhea. My doc told me to take charcoal pills to absorb the toxins and this took care of it (charcoal pills are hard to find, though. I bought some from him). This reaction is actually a good sign because this means that the treatment is affective and is killing the yeast. The die-off reaction happens within hours.

HI there,
I never felt anything yesterday but now 24 hours later and another pill i'm feeling slight nausea. I don't even know if i have a yeast infection or not though as the tests have not come back yet , i certianly can't see how a yeast infection would mimic a uti bladder spasms and burning uretha , i will probably never find out whats wrong ughh...
