various food allergies - Allergies Message Board

Hello all!

I recently had some food-allergy testing done because I have been having an array of different symptoms. Anyway, my doctor emailed me the results this morning and I don't really know what exactly I am supposed to eat now.

For the next 4-6 weeks, I have to completely eliminate soy, whey, eggs, lima beans, pinto beans, navy beans, and garlic, in addition to already having a gluten allergy.

Almost everything I've looked at has one of those ingredients (especially soy, everything gluten-free has soy in it!). I am very concerned about getting enough protein the next 4-6 weeks because I don't eat red meat and eat a limited amount of chicken and fish (most of my protein came from soy products).

Any suggestions on recipes or where to look for some guidance? I searched online but did not find all that much without all of my offending foods.

I also have had to avoid soy products. I have had to replace some of the soy products that I use to eat with rice. I now drink Rice Dream instead of soy milk. I sometimes do a rice protein shake for breakfast, I pop some bananas or other fresh fruit in with my rice milk. You would be surprised how many rice products exist. As far as beans go, can you have beans like black beans and kidney beans? I sometimes do simple quick meals like rice and sweet peas or black eyed peas.

Where can you get rice protein powder? I am having to avoid whey protein for a few weeks, too, after visiting my allergist. I have always made a protein shake each morning with whey protein, psyllium husk, yogurt, and frozen strawberries. Now three of those things are high in histamine and I have to avoid them. Aack!

Thanks! I'm definitely ordering that stuff. I've lived off of whey protein forever and now can't eat it, so this is a Godsend.
