| Unexplained allergic reactions
I wonder if anyone could possibly help, we are going out of our minds with worry and can't seem to find any answers to what is causing My Mum to have severe allergic reactions.
To give you a bit of background, my Mum is 64 and has had a penicillin allergy all of her life. She has also been particularly sensitve to wasp and bee stings, and aslo has an oyster allergy.
However, last February she suffered severe anaphalactic shock, she was in hospital for three days with lip swelling, throat swelling, low blood presure and severe rash from head to toe, and the only think we can pin it down to is some tablets she was prescribed to clear the mucus in her chest (Mucozane), which she had taken about half an hour before the reaction, as she had quite a bad cough and cold.
Two months later, she had another reaction, this time the only thing we can think caused it is fly repelent that she had sprayed - as her throat was swelling literally 20 minutes later - followed by rash etc.
10 days ago she has had yet another reaction - no common trigger to the other two though. She had taken some over the counter indigention tablets which we presume must have caused it. We obviously thought initially that it was a drug allergy but she has since taken Ibuprofen and Diprin without any adverse affects.
We are at our wits end trying to figure out the cause of the attacks, and she is very worried about everything she now takes and eats. She does carry an Epi-pen now and is on permentant antihistemines but is still worried as she doesn't know what to avoid in order to prevent the attacks.Could you offer any advise please? Has anyone else experienced a number of seemingling unrealted allergic reactions?
