itchy armpits..why is this happening?

hey everyone,

so my armpits have been itchy for awhile, and at first i thought i was from shaving..but now i'm not so sure. I also got a little irratation right above my breasts..but i don't know if the two are connected.

Should i switch my brand of deoderant? Could I be allergic to something in it? Any advice would help!

Re: itchy armpits..why is this happening?

Oh yes I know this problem all too well. My problem is the combination of shaving and the deodorant. Changing deodorant can help but might not fix the problem. What has worked best for me is using a shaver that does not have a blade. I've really like the lady remington wet dry shaver. Using the edge that is like a clippers. Not the microscreen part that will cause skin irritation and itching also.

They are not cheep though. My last one died on me and I've been using a blade again. I shave very very lightly so as not to shave off a slight layer of skin. Not the closest shave in the world but it keeps it from getting all irritated when I put deodorant on after.

But you might just be allergic to the deodorant since the irritation is not limited to just your armpits. So switching deodorants might do the trick. But lots of them have similar ingredients in them so you might have to try a few to find one that doesn't irritate you.

I do remember now after thinking about it more I cannot use Soft N Dry. Man that stuff makes me itch so bad. Right now I am using Secret Platinum solid which doesn't cause me to itch. Everyone is different though.

I had deodorant allergies. I use a deodorant stone now. You can buy it in health food stores. It is mineral salts. You wet it and rub it under your arm. The minerals inhibit bacterial growth so you don't smell. It works really well for me. My underarms used to be stained yellow. Now they are not.
