Similarly, since I was 20 I’ve been having an issue that I believe has to do with my seasonal allergies. When I was younger I occasionally had a fuzzy, lightheaded feeling which I then associated with blood sugar. I was testing for hypoglycemia and diabetes around age 20-21 but I was cleared of any blood issues.

At age 24 I noticed in the mornings I would feel VERY spacey and disconnected, almost as if I were walking around in a dream. While this was happening I noticed that my ability to process thoughts, carry on conversations and such was severely hindered – almost like my brain was working in slow motion. I thought that this might have to do with an inner-ear disorder so I visited an ENT who ran a series of tests (vertigo, balance, etc) and could offer no advice. I then noticed that my eyes seem strained. Fast eye/head movement resulted in mild disorientation and eye strain.

Because of the eye strain I visited an optometrist to see if my problem was eye related. I received no advice there as well and went to an allergist. The allergist that I visited had been practicing for over 30 years could offer not advice. He gave me a few samples of nasal spray. They did not help.

Symptoms:

- Fuzzy head, a very disconnected, dream-like feeling. This feeling is apparent only when I am moving around, looking, turning my head, focusing on objects other than something straight in front of me. Shopping malls, department stores, (Walmart for instance), vertical and horizontal movement (up and down body movement and turning head), etc. trigger this response.
- Slow mental processing. I have a difficult time remembering things both short and long term; names, dates, etc. I have difficulty putting together sentences sometimes – words leave me, even the most simple of words that are commonly used.
- Adds to anxiety and sometimes causes anxiety attacks.


What I’ve tried:

- Allergy meds: chloratrimatine, Claritin, pretty much any/all over the counter drugs available.
- Sinus: Pseudoephedrine, phenylphedrine, nasal sprays etc.
- Other: Meclizine

I’ve read many bulletin boards and found others who are having the exact same issues and many are frustrated with the lack of results from medical professionals. I have an appointment with a primary care physician tomorrow to get the process started yet again... looking forward to finding someone with some real answers. If I find any you can be sure that I will reply here to share with everyone.
