1) How long will it take to use up a vial? All depends on what dosage level you are getting. At the beginning you get a small dose and work up to a larger one but more doses per week.
2) Shelf life - longer than you need! If you don't stick with the regimen laid out for you and skip any dose, you have to start over at the beginning or at least back up a few doses, depending on how long it's been since you had a shot. The shelf life is probably a year or so and you'll use it up before that.
3) The bump from the injection, if there is one, usually goes away in a couple of days or less.
I think the longest I ever had a vial last was about 8-9 months. And that was at the once every four week maintenance level. Typically, this is a five year regimen. You get 2-3 a week until you get to maintenance level at about 6-8 months. Each individual is different. And if you have reactions and have to back up on dosage, it can vary greatly.
