Rash developing from Intradermal tests? Anyone else? - Allergies Message Board

Hi-

Hopefully, others have gone through something similar and I am over-reacting if I don't go into the Dr. I want to avoid, if I can help it, taking MORE time off to go to the dr! I already have personal business to attend to this week! Grr.

I got allergy (intradermal) testing done on Monday of last week. Now, I am still showing some of the welts I developed from the positives. About three of these are fairly red and itchy. One however, is turning into smaller clustered bumps rather than one smooth bump and it appears to be spreading on my arm. I am keeping Cortisone on it, but, that is now not even stopping the itching. Tried some other itch creams, as the lumps seemed to start to go away toward the end of last week, but now are looking worse, especially that one. It isnt' all over my arm but it sure is red enough and itchy. I have no idea why as I was not warned that it would last a week!!!

Allergy pills, lots of them, NOW.

Keep using the cortisone ointment, and you may want to call your doctor's office.

Absolutely take an antihistamine! You should have started as soon as they were done with the tests. You have gone way too long without them.

I did start as soon as they were done w/ the tests. Sorry for not clarifying- I've been taking Claratin and some Benedryl. It isn't really making much difference although I sneeze/blow my nose LESS when I take the Claratin. It doesn't do anything for the bumps.

You could could check with your doctor but some people just react longer. and scratching does help - but I know you know that!
