under the skin hives, anxiety, lightheadedness

For three months, I have been breaking out in hives under the skin, especially in the evening. It is accompanied by jittery feelings inside, crawly feeling on my skin, and just a general anxious feeling. It seems to be connected to eating and I have tested positive for gluten sensitivity. I have gone on gluten free diet, totally cut out processed foods and sugar, but am still getting the hives. Benedryl is the only thing that helps, but I would love to get to the bottom of what I am allergic to. Anyone else out there experience this?

You wouldn't happen to be over 40 and going through perimenopause would you? I have most of your symptoms but haven't had the hives. Maybe a little. Sense entering perimenopause, I am 44 btw. I have lots of weird things happening. The crawling itchy skin is happening, I break out more, my allergies are worse and I have new ones. It's scary. My skin and scalp is dry too. I have major panic moments too. Just curious if you fall into this age bracket.

Re: under the skin hives, anxiety, lightheadedness

I am actually in menopause...I am 53, but have been there for two years now. I take natural hormones, which relieves the hot flashes, etc., but these hives are something new. THey happen almost always at night, are on my belly and thighs especially. it does seem to happen after I eat, so I am suspecting food allergies. I know menopause can make us hyper sensitive, so maybe that is it. Also, my adrenal glands are highly fatigued, and could be related. Thanks for your reply. keep your faith...God Almighty is always there to help!

Re: under the skin hives, anxiety, lightheadedness

Thank you Praisewoman! I do believe in God and that He is looking out for us. I think you hit the nail on the head. Menopause and peri makes us hypersensative. I have more little flare ups with things. Itchy skin and blotchy patches. It's like my immune system is over reacting. Btw I have heard of many woman getting hives during this time. So it could be. Hang in there! Hugs from another Christian friend!
