Allergy shots and stopping early - Allergies Message Board

Hi all--I was wondering if anyone on the board who has had allergy shots ever stopped them at a year and a half to two years and noticed if their allergies came back with a vengeance or did they have success? Thanks so much--Hopeto--

I never stopped them before the 5 year time frame but would assume that they would come back sooner than if you took the whole 5 year regimen.

I was on allergy injections for a number of years and did fairly well on them. I moved to a different area and was taken off them due to a misdiagnosis and have been miserable because the injections are BADLY needed. It will take me a good six months since restarting them before I will feel like myself.

I tried allergy shots for the first time for 2 years, stopped because it got to be a real pain getting there (I had a new baby at home). In about a year they returned much worse, and I also had an asthma attack, which I had never had before, so now I'm back on them for over a year and feel much better. But that's just me, everyone is different.

Hi all--I was wondering about the shots because I've been getting them for a year and a half and as good as the shots are, I'm still contending with the sinus thing--i.e. dizziness, sometimes bloody mucus, etc. Weather changes really affect me and I have a lot of side effects with meds. I'm really gun shy about using the sinus rinses on a regular basis for fear of infection. I know--I'm probably making more of this than it is, but being scared I appreciate any feedback everyone has.
