allergy testing bill

Hi I had allergy testing done recently and it included the skin tests as well as blood tests. The tests were recommended by another doctor who found sinusitis in a CT scan and I had been having symptoms for awhile.
I checked with my insurance and it says I'm covered for allergy testing 100% (Blue Cross).
I just saw my statement for the tests and it came to over $2,000!!! There was a footnote at the bottom that said certain tests exceeded their coverage and they would need some kind of documentation for the need of these tests.
Is there anything I can do about this!?!
I can't get over how my coverage could say allergy testing is covered 100% and then I end up with a bill like this.

Re: allergy testing bill

Did you actually get a bill from the dr for 2k? Or is it a stmt for blue cross? Normally the dr signs an agreement that the insurance will pay a certain amount for each service. If the dr bills the ins co for a higher amount (which happens all the time) the ins will pay the agreed amount, not the larger amt. The patient is not normally responsible for picking up the balance, the dr just gets the agreed amount & if they think they should get more for whatever reason, then they would send the documentation to the ins company. If you have not gotten a bill from the dr saying that you owe the difference, I wouldn't worry about it yet. Normally the blue cross bill will say somewhere that the patient doesn't have to pay the difference.

Re: allergy testing bill

Thanks, I just got the actual bill from the doctor and it is much less, thankfully.
