Did you actually get a bill from the dr for 2k? Or is it a stmt for blue cross? Normally the dr signs an agreement that the insurance will pay a certain amount for each service. If the dr bills the ins co for a higher amount (which happens all the time) the ins will pay the agreed amount, not the larger amt. The patient is not normally responsible for picking up the balance, the dr just gets the agreed amount & if they think they should get more for whatever reason, then they would send the documentation to the ins company. If you have not gotten a bill from the dr saying that you owe the difference, I wouldn't worry about it yet. Normally the blue cross bill will say somewhere that the patient doesn't have to pay the difference.
