i've been doing a little bit of reading into this and it has been stated that food allergies can cause acne
however i was wondering is this reliable information backed up by scientific research or just stuff banded about by these gimmick looking allergy testing websites( the ones where you send a hair sample off etc)
also if it is a cause of acne then i would be interested in getting tested properly in a hospital or clinic if anyone knows how to go about that?
The gold standard for food allergy testing is a blood test, for environmental allergies it is a skin scratch test. Hair testing does not work. I don;t know how you do it over there but here in the US one goes to an allergy doctor for the testing.
Food allergies are one of the causes of acne. Consuming a food to which the body is allergic directs to a persisting toxic reaction. In such a case the immune system battles the food as if it were an intruding organism. This can induce inflammation in the skin (and many other conditions), as well as the need to throw out the toxin.
