Allergy help needed for sudden itchy throat

I need help. I dont have any allergies to foods, never have, but i am allergic to penecillin. And somewhat allergic to dust and dogs.

2 days ago my throat became itchy, and tight feeling, my tongue felt swollen as well. When I looked in the mirror my throat didnt look any different as far as i could tell, but i had difficulty swallowing, and it truly felt as thought my throat was closing.

I waited a few hours and took some benedryl, which helped somewhat. Then all day today ive felt the same tightness itchyness and swollen feeling, as if i was going to stop breathing. I took benedryl after about 8 hours of this and got a little releif. In this time I did not drink or eat anything for fear of being allergic.

this whole time i have not had a runny nose, no sneezing, no coughing, no hives, absolutely nothing else but throat symptoms somewhat releived by benedryl. I ate no new foods, and havent been around any new things.

does this sound like an allergy or just my head making me anxious? thank you very much for any input.

Re: Allergy help needed for sudden itchy throat

Check out OAS - oral allergy syndrome.....or it may just be a bug you caught that manifested itself this way.
