popcorn allergies

my son has been breaking out with hive looking bump that itch for about 2 months or more now.We took him to the doctor and they said hes allergic to something. He dont go to the allergiest til June 6th and i just dont want it to do anything to him by then. We think it might be pop corn but not for sure. Does anyone know anything about pop corn allergies? Hes 15 months old

Re: pop corn allergies

It wouldn't just be a popcorn allergy but rather a corn allergy in general. Are you giving him any antihsitamines? Avoiding all corn products - corn syrup, sweeteners, etc?

Re: pop corn allergies

These are questions for his pediatrician. If she were older I would offer some suggestions but I hesitate at this young age. He may need to see a pediatric allergist as well. The only way to avoid corn products - really and truly - is to not eat any prepared foods. Fix everything from scratch....

Re: popcorn allergies

Interesting thread since I just had popcorn allergies, but was OK to regular frozen-then-thawed corn, but not cornbread. The immediate after-effect symptom was bloating with uncomfortable abdominal pain.

I am already very aware of kinesiology's very accurate immediate testing method using MRT or muscle response testing/quick treating thru NAET techniques so I did that and the next evening was eating a large bowl of Orville Reddenbacher's same popcorn without any symptoms ... yes, the allergy elimination was that quick. Just tonight I ate another large bowl of Jolly Time popcorn and there are no after effects nor symptoms.

All this popcorn is based on lightly salted hot air popped so there were no other ingredients, seasonings, etc. added to confuse what the real culprit might be.
