Hives! Help!
Alright I am new at this so spare me.. I may be posting in the wrong place..
OK the current problem I am facing is with my almost 6 year old son. Yesterday when he got home from school he seemed fine and about 30 mins later I noticed him itching A LOT. I lifted up his shirt and freaked in a panic when I saw his back and torso covered in a bright red raised rash..with a few welts. I kind of had the idea that is was hives, and I have never dealt with them before so I took him immediately to Texas Children's ER. By the time we got there he was covered with hives on about 80% of his body and he was itching like crazy..I finally urged the front desk to get us to at least triage and the RN said that it was for sure hives so she ordered him some benadryl. Two hours later we finally got a room and the rash had spread out a little more and he was still pretty itchy. The dr obviously asked us a series of questions and sent us home with a script for benadryl and one for claritan. He woke up at 1 am with literally his ENTIRE body covered in the rash an welts. I, of course, freaked out and called the er, meanwhile giving him more Benadryl. They said to stay home unless he has an issue breathing.
Today he has been fine until we were running around inside for a good 30 mins and he broke out on his face.... could heat have something to do with them? I am taking him to his pcp tomorrow to further help the issue... Thanks in advance!
