allergy to strawberry jam ingredient??
I have a son who just ate strawberry jam this morning. He started developing a rash around his mouth.

But he does eat raw strawberries with no problems. So I'm ruling out strawberries for now.

Does anyone have a suggestion on a common ingredient in strawberry jam that could cause an allergic reaction?

We'd have to know what the label says the ingredients are before we could venture a guess. Did anyone else eat the jam? How old was it?

You know, when my brother was a toddler, tomato sauce gave him a rash, but not tomatoes! We figured it was probably the more concentrated acid. He eventually grew out of it.

Actually, it was homemade jam apparently. I will be finding out what ingredients (and the age of the jam) our friend used in a day or two.

Everyone in our family ate it, but only the little one had a reaction.

So the ingredients were strawberries, sugar and Certo! At this point
I'm guessing it is the Certo then (or an ingredient in Certo).
