Allergies to sulfur- sulfate products

Greetings, those who have allergies to sulfa drugs might consider also the effect that sulfur has in some food products in various forms that have the word sufate in it. Peace, sjb

The sulfa drugs are relatives of the early antibiotic sulfanilomide. They are not related to sulfur or sulfates, despite the similarity in names. Thanks for the warning, though!

If you look at the molecular make up there is a link to some degree to many drugs. ONe example is the warning on Diovan, a BP med, and celebrex, an anti-inflammatory. Both have warnings about allergies to sulfa drugs because they don't know how slight the connection may be that will cause a reaction in SOME people. Therefore the warning. However, although my sister and I both have allergies to aulfa drugs, she tolerates the celebrex well and I had no problem with Diovan. Each to their own.
