My face is always full

Hi everyone,

My allergy symptoms have me in a state of anxiety and hypochondria. Apparently I have a dust mite allergy that gives me faint black circles under the eyes, head pressure, and face fullness. It's the head pressure and face fullness that drives me absolutely insane. I don't even know if its just the dust, or other allergies causing it but I'm also congested. I went to an ENT who said it was CLEAR, and i don't have a runny nose, but i am STILL blocked.

Here's my symptoms:
Head pressure - feels like my head is going to explode. It's not painful, but it's hard to describe. It makes me feel uneasy and tired and can start panic episodes. It's like a heavy pressure that is either in the front, back or temples. At its worst i feel like I'm going to pass out. Sometimes i get 1-2 second dizzy spells inside my head. The pressure can be felt in the bridge of my nose, too.

Then there's the face fullness. My face looks awful. I'm puffy around the eyes, and around the mouth and my nose looks bigger as odd as it sounds - and i feel nasally congested. My eyes look weird too - they're not closed up from puffiness but they look glassy (doesn't help that they're blue) and i have a deer in the headlights sort of look. I also feel pressure behind them that also leads to panic episodes because it feels like they're going to burst out of my head. They're also sensitive to bright lights.

Does anyone have these symptoms and what has helped? I'm at the end of my rope. Thanks

Re: My face is always full

Yes, those could be allergy symptoms. You can try:

1) A daily antihistamine. You might have to try a few different medicines to find one that works well for you.

2) Prescription nasal spray, the steroid or antihistamine kind. Also, allergy eye drops, if your eyes are red and sore.

3) Reducing dust in the home. Washing the bedsheets in hot water every week can help, for example.

4) Sinus rinsing with saline, though neti pot or spray bottle. Many people swear by it, and I do it sometimes.

5) If this stuff isn't providing adequate relief, see an allergist for allergy shots. They take months to start working, but they eventually help a LOT.
