Lactose Intolerance?

Okay, so lately I have been having some difficulties with indigestion. After I eat my stomach rumbles - for at least a half an hour, and for heavier meals has gone on for a few hours... it is very uncomfortable. I feel like I need to release air but am unable to burp easily, I can do it but it doesn't happen quickly. This has been happening for a while but the last week or so it has really begun to worsen. The last few days I have been trying to keep track of what kind of meals make me feel worse. Last night I had a lasagna with LOTS of cheese and felt terrible - the rumbling lasted for hours. For lunch I had no dairy products and felt relatively alright. I had mashed potatoes with milk in them for dinner and experienced some pain. Usually with these pains come loose bowel movements as well.

I'm going to try cutting dairy out of my diet for a week and see if I feel any better; does this sound like it could be lactose intolerance, or is there another problem? Should I go see my doctor about this? It is very uncomfortable and is really starting to affect my life.

Re: Lactose Intolerance?

That or gallbladder. And either will benefit from no dairy. I'd do a week fat/dairy free and see how that goes. Then visit your doctor with that information.

Re: Lactose Intolerance?

I'm no doctor but I have had my gallbladder out. This sounds to me like its lactose problem. If it was your gallbladder you would know it with severe pain and not the inability to release air. Just a thought. Hope you feel better. :-)

Re: Lactose Intolerance?

You could just be sensitive to lactose. I can have limited amounts of dairy and be ok, but can't have it daily anymore. Try to eliminate it completely, then slowly introduce it back into your diet.
