Post the yeast connection

hey everyone....as a lot of you all know, this is still a very contreversial topic in health care today. For the past 3 weeks i've been taking an anti-yeast regiment including: antifungals, probiotics, and a diet consisting of no yeast, sugar and hardly any carbos. Has any of you tried this yet? If so, did it work for you? I scored a 240 on a questionnaire out of Dr. Crooks book "the yeast connection"; 190 being the almost certain problems are yeast connected. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated...that is, people with knowledge and or experience on this subject. Also, I'm having what i think is called the die-off effect from caprylic acid. I've been on it for 2 weeks now and i've been feeling very depressed. Is depression part of "die-off" or detoxing? Again, info would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,

kris

Hi Kris---I have done this many times and have had the die off reaction but it is sort of like the Flu---it only lasted several days. There are several problems that I think everybody has with yeast infections
---there are more that 900 strains that have been identified. Taking any antifungal remedy makes the yeast readily mutate to another strain that is not killed off by that remedy. Then you have to take something else. The drug of choice is Nystatin---a presciption drug with no known side-effects. You can switch remedies and you just may have to---you know everbody's different. You may just have to stop taking the one you're taking if it's causing you problems(depression).

A good idea is to eat yogurt 3 or 4 times daily. Use a good brand that has live lactobacillus acidophilus included. Also, the best probiotic supplements that I have used are PB-8, Kyodophlus, Culturelle and Probiotica. Take any of these on an empty stomach since much is destroyed by stomach acids. I take one type before going to bed. None of these need to be refrigerated. The ones that need to be kept in the frige can lose their potency and I wonder if they were treated properly before they got to me (Heat). It is very important to replace the bad bacteria with a good bacteria.

Probably the best way to get rid of yeast problems is to cut off their food supply by limit your eating the sugar/carbs that they thrive on --Dr Crooks recommendation---as you know.

As you know all this is controversial in the USA but in some counties an antibiotic is not sold without an anti-fungal remedy included. Also, there is No way to test for it except by symptoms. As you know Doctors like tests and numbers---and many don't listen to you when you try to tell them your symptoms. One Doctor told me only women get yeast infections.
No longer my Doctor!!!

God Bless---Harry

PS--Alway glad to write a person from the Holy City

Harry,

thanks for replying. I've decided to let go of the capryl for now and I have switched to candex and pau d'arco.
I have some questions for you. First, I thought about eating yogurt 2 or 3 times daily but i was concerned about the sugar. What are your thoughts on that? Also, I was wondering what some of your experiences were/are with candida? (your symptoms, effective treatment regiments, etc.)
I also got the same response from a local doctor who said only women have yeast problems. They checked my urine and saw no signs of yeast and determined I was fine. I'm currently looking for a new physician.
Thanks again for your response and i look foward to hearing from you again.

kris

ps-how is the holy city lately? I live in atlanta now but i really miss it? I lived in Summerville and West Ashley.

kris,
I eat the plain type yogurt that has no added sugar(Dannon). I only eat a cup daily(8 ounces). I think it's good to add to your diet.

I have read alot about Candidiasis and probably the best book that I have read is "The Yeast Syndrome" by Dr John Trowbridge,MD.It is about 420 pages and is pretty compehensive.

I have had alot of problems with a burning tongue and mouth, clogged sinuses, extreme fatigue and GI tract (constipation, diarrhea, and pain). I buy the Nystatin powder from a Doctor(MD) in North Charleston that treats using alerternative medicine. I have come to the conclusion that my yeast problems should be treated beginning in the mouth. So, I use the powder mixed with about 3 oz. water, gargle a mouth full then swallow ---repeat until all is used. Candida Forte from Natures Way is good for mild Candida infections.

As you may know Candidiasis has been linked to mood swings, depression, arthriis, hyperactivity, hypothyroidism, diabetes, memory loss, kidney& bladder infections, colitis, adrenal gland problems. I don't think I've had any of these problems.

I have taken a series of Peroxide Therapy IV treatments and it helped. But, I think the best thing that I have done is go a diet very similar to "The Zone" type diet --- adequate protein/low carb diet. Some chronic problems that I had have cleared up on the diet---are not weight related.

I live close to a the Ashley River(2 blocks) and it is humid as well as a damp place----and this does not help.

Take Care---Harry

PS Charleston is growing too fast but as you know it's a good place to live. A place of character. It just got cold enough for the last leaves to fall and now flowers are blooming.Several weeks ago we had a little snow--the same time you had it.

Harry,

You said one of the problems that you had were clogged sinuses. Did it seem like your ears were always clogged or full? If so, did this cause you any dizziness? This is one of my main symptoms. I have not been diagnosed with anything other than perennial rhinitis but I'm almost certain that my problem is yeast connected. Also, do you know if a yellow color in your toe nails may be due to a yeast problem?
I don't mean to ask you all these questions like your a doctor, it just seems that you have substantial experience with this subject. Anyway, thanks for all of your input.

kris
