Question Skin Alergies

Hi,
I am really glad to be joining this message board, since I am really interested in the healing through alternative medicine. Anyway, what has puzzled me for quite a while now, and to which I thought that you might have an answer would be this:

Around 2 years ago I have gotten this skin rash around my stomach area. I didn't really bother about it, since it was small and I was around 14 and kind of foolish. Soon it started to bother me and I used some anti-rash creams from Aveeno. They didn't really help. Anyway, this continued for a few months, and in early spring I had some kind of attack and my whole face, my arms and the stomach area were covered with some kind of a rash. I went to a dermatologist, and he didn't really know what it was. He gave me prescription creams - which worked. The rash on the stomach area went away, but then came back again. I kept on using the creams, untill finished. A year later, the same kind of attack occured during the same season (around the same time) So I went to the same dermatologist and he prescribed the same creams. But during this whole time my stomcah rash never really went away. I went to a healer. He worked on it and said it could be something from what I eat - maybe a food allergy (and by the way my parents tried putting me on different diets, but nothing had an affect) So I just dealed with it. Later I went to another dermatologist, and he said that I had an alergy on nickel. So from now on I avoid all metal based things (earings, belts, etc.) At first the rash seemed to go away, but every little contact I have with metal ( even the back of the buttons on jeans) give me rashes. I was wondering how I can get rid of the allergy - as they said it was - since I only started to have it when I was around 14. and now I'm 16. I never had any kind of allergies to anything earlier, and this occured from out of the blue. I was wondering if you could give me any ideas on how to get rid of the allergy and the rash permanently, and maybe somehow you could give me any ideas of the source of it. I mean how could one get an allergy all of a sudden? And the doctors didn't even know what it was at first anyway, so I don't really trust them fully on their judgment. I had blood tests, etc. They didn't really show anything.

Well anyway, this seems to have ended up a quite long message, I should stop here. I thank you for taking time to read it, even if you might not have any ideas for help. I would trully apreciate if you could help me figure this thing out. I have been doing some research for a while, but none of the common skin problems had the same symptoms as the attacks (as I call them) I had. Well thank you again.
I hope to hear from you soon
Kate

Talking

Hi Kate,

When I first read your post and you talked about a rash on your belly, I immediately thought that you might have a nickel allergy before I read anymore because I have had exactly the same thing too.

I used to wear some trousers with a nickel belt and this belt rubbed against my belly and produced a rash because I had a tunic on with the trousers. However, I used Tee Tree cream and Rescue Cream and stopped wearing the belt for a while and the rash went. However, since then I have had food allergies which have given me itchy skin and hives and stomach problems too.

You can start to get allergies at anytime in your life, if you have the susceptibility and the time is right and given the right stimulus you can get the allergies. Does anyone else in your family get allergies? If so, then this is more likely.

If you want to try other alternative therapies, then I would suggest that you try homeopathy. This can be very helpful with lots of skin problems. I have taken homeopathy for my stomach problems and allergy problems and I am now a lot better.

Acupuncture could also be helpful for you too.

If you can reduce your susceptibility, then you should be able to get rid of your allergies.

Good luck.
