Question Another cleanse question

I found an online program for colon cleanse that is an at home process. It doesn't involve any cleanse formulas or tablets. One day a week for four weeks, you use a different liquid as your fasting liquid. One week is pure apple juice, then distilled water with frest lemon, then water with apple cider vinegar, then just distilled water.

Anyone tried this or anything like it? Anyone know of an effective non-fasting cleanse? I would like something like this, no pills or anything to buy.

Is eating yogurt ok for good bacteria? Also, would a cleanse like this be good for candida as well? What about cranberry juice for a urinary cleanse?

There are a lot of questions here, I know, but it seems like there is so much to consider with this and I don't want to get into anything that would be harmful. I appreciate input from those who have experience with the subject.

Thanks!
Sidnee

Re: Another cleanse question

I don’t know this cleanse, but I don’t think it will do anything for Candida. You will need to go on a special Candida diet. If you like I will gladly expand on this.

Re: Another cleanse question

Candida feeds on sugar so you need to cut down on carbohydrate high foods. You can eat foods low on carbs and high in protein such as meat, chicken, fish and non starchy vegetables.

Avoid:
Sugar all forms as honey, syrup etc.
Fruit
Potatoes
Any thing made with yeast: bread, vinegar, alcohol etc.
Foods with mold: peanuts, peanut butter
Processed foods: Cheese, bacon, hotdogs etc.
Refined foods: refined flour, pasta, white rice etc.
Coffee, black tea, (I’m not quite sure on this one. It is some years ago I did this program, and have since done other cleanses, liver, kidney etc. where I stopped drinking coffee and black tea)
Some also recommend to avoid dairy products. Organic plain yogurt is ok.

Eat:
Vegetables, chicken, meat, fish, brown rice, rye bread (non yeast variants).

You will need to follow this strictly for a month, and then you can start to relax a bit. You can start to eat fruit.

It took me 8-9 months with no sugar, yeast or alcohol to get rid of an infection that was visible on my skin. I had this infection for 20 years and had tried prescription creams.

It took me a long time to get used to no sugar in my diet. But I did get to a point where I stopped missing it. Since I completed the diet I now use much less sugar then before. I do eat sweats, cakes and drink soda now and then.

It dosn't have to take as long as it toke me. It depends on how long and how bad you have had a problem with Candida.

Re: Another cleanse question

sidnee74,

I am going to do the Master Cleanse starting next week. It's supposed to give the digestive tract a "rest". I've heard of juice fasting which sounds a little bit like what you are talking about. I think you just drink different juices that you have to concoct at home.

greensky,

Do you know, personally, of a sure fire way or easy way to test yourself to see if you have Candida? I think I may have it. How bad, I don't know. I have a skin condition called tinea versicolor and from what I have been told this may be a sign that I have Candida. I read somewhere else that a good way to tell if you have Candida is to buy some malted milk balls and eat them. If you have gas after eating them, you have Candida. Sounds strange.... But if you could give (some more) insight on Candida that woud be helpful. From what I have read, craving sweets and taking a lot of antibiotics in the past are a sign that you may have Candida. There were a couple of other signs listed, but they didn't apply to me. I have taken a lot of antibiotics in the past and while I don't CRAVE sweets, I will eat something sweet (chocolate, Coke) maybe twice a week. Also, what you mentioned above about breads/yeast, yes that applies to me also, but again maybe once a week and not in large quantities. Sorry this is long.

Thanks!

Re: Another cleanse question

I had a rash on my skin that was diagnosed as a fungus by a doctor (25 years ago) and a skin specialist (4-5 years ago). The specialist couldn’t say what type without doing some tests. Before she would do the tests she wanted me to take some drugs. I was advised against the drugs by others, and 6 months later I went on the candida diet.

We all have candida as it is natural to have candida in you digestive system. If you have a candida problem you have too much candida and it infects other parts of you body. This is not recognised by traditional medicine, so they have no tests for it. But I do know of alternative tests, but I have no personal experience with them.

I think if you suspect having candida try the diet. You don’t have to spend money on any special products. I think all of us will benefit from the diet, no sugar, no processed foods with additatives, no stimulants (coffee, black tea, alcohol) etc. You may already start felling better after 14 days. I think staying on the diet until you feel comfortable without the sugar and stimulants can only be beneficial. But don’t except it to handle al sorts of ills, if it does, good. I did get rid of my fungus and felt better with more energy. But it didn’t handle my main health problem (I was hoping ).

P.S. I’m no specialist on candida, only referring to my own experiences.

Re: Another cleanse question

greensky,

Thanks for your info!! I have to admit that after I typed my post, I did a search for a "candida questionnaire". I answered the questions and according to my score, i have a "moderate condition" of candida. Hopefully that means I can control it without too much of a hassle. I do appreciate your info though. I always like to get several opinions on things I'm researching. I have heard of the Candida diet. I haven't tried it yet. For the most part, my diet is good, except for those few "no-no's" I listed in my first post. I have found some info on herbal supplements/remedies for Candida, so I think I'm gonna try that first. Gosh, from what I've read, this Candida stuff is no joke!!!

Thanks again!!

Re: Another cleanse question

I also found a questionnaire and my score indicated a "probable" candida problem. The diet isn't too far off from the one I normally try to adhere to. I'll have to give up fruit & potatoes but it's worth a try. Thanks for the info!

Re: Another cleanse question

I was interested in doing a parasite cleanse. I was thinking about using natural supplements for the parasite cleanse. After I take the supplements each day, should I take a colon cleanse tablet immediately after, so any possible parasites are excreted quickly? I've been suffering with extreme exhaustion, concentration problems, and low short-term memory since November of 2003. I thought that maybe parasites could be causing my symptoms? Is it ok to take my other other supplements, vitamins, etc., during the days that I am doing the parasite and colon cleanse? How many days do you suggest that I do the parasite cleanse for? If I should have made another thread for this, I apologize. My brain fog has been really bad.

Re: Another cleanse question

I don't think you need to take a colon cleanse tablet. But then I don't know which parasite cleanse you want to do. I have done one from Hulda R. Clarks books. This one is Black Walnut Hull Tincture, Wormwood, Cloves and Ornithine.

Re: Another cleanse question

I have done a parasite cleanse and bowel cleanse at the same time. I did the Black Walnut Hull Tincture, Wormwood, and Cloves for the parasite cleanse and did the Psyllium and Bentonite Clay Shakes for the bowel cleanse (a.k.a. P&B Shakes) at the same time. I think I got some eggs out on the parasite cleanse, and got mucoid plaque out on the bowel cleanse.

I think some people do those 2 cleanses separate and some don't. I read where it was okay to do both together, so that's what I did.

Re: Another cleanse question

Can you tell me more about these shakes? Did you purchase them or make them yourself? Do you fast while drinking the shakes and how long does it take? Thanks so much!

Re: Another cleanse question

The psyllium husks/powder is basically just fiber. The liquid bentonite clay is a toxin remover. You purchase each one separately and mix them together. You can get both of these items at a health food store or online. Just do a search engine. Just make sure you get the LIQUID bentonite clay. Here's the recipe:

1tsp psyllium husks powder
1tblspn liquid bentonite clay
8-10 oz water or juice (I use just plain ol' apple juice)
Mix well and drink up

Word of caution: This mixture will become gelatinous fairly quickly if you don't drink it fast enough.

My advice: Just mix the psyllium w/your water or juice and drink up. Then just take the tablespoon of liquid bentonite clay by mouth. Don't worry-it has absolutely no taste. Well, maybe a very very very slight metallic taste but nothing major to make you gag.

VERY VERY VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!: YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST DRINK PLENTY OF WATER AFTER DOING THESE OR WATCH OUT, CONSTIPATION CITY!!! I'm not saying a whole gallon of water but what happens is the bentonite adheres to the mucoid plaque, toxins, etc that are on the linings of your intestines, and with the help of the psyllium, expels them through bowel movements. Remember the psyllium is fiber!!! So the combination of these two ingredients can leave you dehydrated and constipated if not enough water is taken after them. You can drink one in the morning (1 hour before eating and taking any vitamins, supplements, medicine) and then just make sure you drink plenty of water through the day. I drink the normal 64 oz. Some people drink a P&B at night, too. I do sometimes and usually follow it with about 24 oz of water. I have been doing this for about 3 weeks now. After 3 days, I started passing mucoid plaque (a.k.a. "ropes). I haven't passed any mp since, but drinking these shakes have helped me feel better in a way. I feel a little cleaner. If you think you're becoming too constipated with the shakes, do an enema. Right now, I only drink one shake a day. I'm preparing to do a liver flush and want to make sure my bowels are clear.

I don't fast while doing these shakes. If you're doing a liquid-type fast (water, juice, the Master Cleanse) you don't have any solid foods going through your digestive tract, therefore, nothing for the P&B to remove from your intestines/digestive tract. If you did the P&B while fasting, you would probably wind up seriously dehydrating yourself (regardless of water intake), and you don't want that. Plus, the fast is basically giving your digestive system a rest and depending, again, on what type of fast you do, your body will purge the toxins out on its own for the most part.

Re: Another cleanse question

Thanks Greensky,
I was thinking about doing that parasite cleanse by Hulda R. Clark or maybe the parasite cleanse that Oxy Powder has. So you don't think that any type of colon cleanse is needed when doing the parasite cleanse? I just thought it might be a good idea to get any possible parasites out of the body quickly. Did the parasite cleanse help you to feel better?

Re: Another cleanse question

PBaby, thanks for the info.
I just saw that this thread has a second page. Sorry, my brain fog is really bad. Do you think that a parasite cleanse could possibly help with my exhaustion, concentration, and short-term memory problems? I read that a major symptom of having parasites can be fatigue.
