Smile Looking for fasters

Hello. I'm 28, and i'm currently on my 1st fast, a combo of both water and juice. My primary goal is to lose the 10 pounds overweight that I am, but now that I read more and more about the benefits of fasting, wow, I didn't realize that your body goes into a revitalization instead of shutting down.
So, since i'm basically a newbie at the fasting scene, what have you guys experienced as a result of fasting, and what juices are the best for total detox? Oh, and how long should a woman fast for at one time? Thanks.

i don't do fast to lose weight. but i do fast for religious propose. I start fasting since Jan. 3rd 2005. i do once a week on Monday. i am going to do 16 Mondays. My last fast is on 18 March 2005. I did lose weight since i start fasting. I don't drink any juices at all. i do eat one time Lunch time only. i drink only water that is all. if i get hungry by evening than i drink milk only. but that is not all Mondays. I lost 13 pounds doing that. My religious is (Hindu) so i do those type of fast.

I have fasted numerous times using a few different methods. There is really no rule about how long you should fast for, it is really up to you and how you feel. I do not recommend fasting with the sole intention of losing weight, however fasting can be a very effective supplement to an already healthy diet and lifestyle.

If you do a search for "juice fasting" you will find literally hundreds of recipes for juices you can make yourself. If you juice fast with the intention of elimating toxins from the body, be sure to avoid grapefruit as it inhibits Phase 1 of liver detoxification.

This being your first time, you may want to start with a short fast of two or three days, and work your way into longer ones as you get to know your body's reactions to fasting during and after. If you are mentally prepared you can reap amazing benefits from a good fast.

I also do not suggest fasting for losing weight. It does help heal a lot of health issues. A lot of times you need to fast while on a detox program. Carrot and beet juice is awesome. Potassium broths also help! Have fun with fasting, don't toxify your mind while you're trying to be healthy.
