Calling Jessicca

Jessicca,
I have a question for you. I just bought some 5 HTP. I was wondering when do you think is the best time of the day or night to take it? I fight with insomnia so I thought this would help me, but am unsure of the best time to take it. Thanks!!

YOU REALLY GAVE ME SOME HELPFUL ADVICE BEFORE

They say that the best time to take it is like 2-3hrs before bedtime. It depends on you. Some people can take it in the morning and not feel a drowsy effect, but it all depends on what works for you. I think that the maximum dose is between 200-300mg but I would start with 50mg and take if from there. Make sure you notify your doctor accordingly if you take a higher dose than what the lable indicates(although I didn't with increasing my dose to 100mg since the new brand I bought recommends that dose). I take 100mg of the brand made by the Nurtraceutical Science institute about 2 hrs before bed. I started out with 50mg a day prior to 100 for a few weeks. Do you avoid caffeine later in the day? If you symptoms persist, and you tried exercise and other things, I would talk to the doc. They usually prescribe a med if this problem persists and screws up your life. I know what insomnia is all about, and anxiety and stressful events in one's life can be a huge reason. Let me know how it goes!
